A court has denied South African Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius leave in order to appeal against his murder conviction.

Pistorius, who came to fame for running in the Olympics despite having artificial legs, shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp through the bathroom door in February 2013.

He was initially found guilty of manslaughter, but a court replace the charge with murder in December.

Now that Pistorius will not be able to appeal the ruling, he will be sentenced in April.
