Thousands may have starved to death in besieged Syrian areas

(AFP) The UN human rights chief on Monday warned that thousands may have died of starvation during sieges affecting nearly half a million people in Syria.

"The deliberate starvation of people is unequivocally forbidden as a weapon of warfare. By extension, so are sieges," Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein said, warning that "thousands of people may have starved to death".
