MK Bezalel Smotrich (Jewish Home) responded on Sunday afternoon to the decree forbidding religious IDF soldiers to grow beards, scheduled to be implemented later on during the week.
“This is absurd. It is clear to me that religious and haredi (ultra-Orthodox) soldiers cannot obey such an order and, if the need arises, may even go to jail because of this matter. I do not see the religious and haredi allowing a reality where religious and haredi soldiers can go to prison because of their religious beliefs. In the coming days, I will file a proposed bill to regulate the matter.”
