Bosnia and Herzegovina have filed a request to join the European Union.
Last week, Prime Minister Denis Zvizdić announced that his country had fulfilled the requirements to join, and added that he is optimistic about the chances of becoming a member by 2017.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is a single country in the Balkans.
