Oz Segal, a 36-year-old man from Herzliya, has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for yelling "death to Arabs" and stabbing a 27-year-old Arab worker. The worker was lightly wounded by the attack.
Ynet reports that Segal pled temporary insanity, though during his police interrogation he admitted to attacking the victim because he was an Arab.
The judge rejected the insanity plea and noted that "not only did Segal know he was committing a criminal act, but moreover – even if we accept his words, which we see as absurd, according to which he was chased by ghosts and voices and wanted to find refuge in jail, he chose committing a criminal act as a solution and tool for achieving his aim.
