The head of the Knesset's Legislative Committee, MK Nissan Slomiansky (Jewish Home) has begun promoting a bill that would prevent the advancement of elections. Haaretz quotes sources in Jewish Home that claim the project already has the support of several ministers.
The bill would set the elections as occurring once every four years, and would remove the Knesset's ability to dissolve itself before that date. Instead, the Knesset would be enabled to dismiss a Prime Minister who does not have majority support, and to allow another MK to put together a replacement coalition.
