Police have detained seven residents of northern Israel, including an official and four workers with the Isfiya Regional Council, on suspicion of bribery relating to elections.
Authorities say that voters were promised jobs if they supported one of the council candidates in elections. The council workers then followed through with the illegal promises.
Police searched the homes and offices of the suspects this morning (Monday), including the council office.
