A spokesperson for the Muslim Brotherhood has announced that the group's deputy leader in Jordan has been released from prison.
Zaki Bani Ersheid had been sentenced to 18 months in prison for criticizing the United Arab Emirates, which Jordan considers a strong ally. He served 12 months of the term.
The Brotherhood, a pan-Arab organization to which Hamas belongs, is the main opposition party in Jordanian politics. Its power in the country may be weakening, though, due to internal strife.
