The chairman of the committee, MK David Amsalem (Likud), explained that "it’s only in the Arab sector that thousands of illegal weapons are roaming around, several of them were stolen from the army. They are used illegally on a daily basis, hurting Israeli criminally and nationalistically. The Israel Police is afraid to operate in these areas, among other things because of the huge quantities of weapons there and a serious shortage of manpower. "
He added, "There is a need to establish new police stations, recruit new officers and enter all the communities in order to enforce the law, to restore order and restore security to the citizens of the state."
