Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has told AFP that he will give land to house the 100,000 people who are still without homes, six years after the country's war ended. The land will be handed over within the next six months.
"It is an ambitious target, but I will see that all the internally displaced people are given land to build homes," said President Sirisena. "I am setting up a mechanism to complete this process within six months."
The ethnic war in Sri Lanka lasted from 1972 until 2009 and left over 100,000 dead.
