German Chancellor Angela Merkel issued a statement in advance of the civil New Year, in which she said that the society and the economy in her country will profit from the hundreds of thousands of migrants currently in Germany.
Merkel indicated that she knows that integrating the migrants will cost Germany “Time, energy and money,” but emphasized that she is “Convicted that if we cope with this great task today, it will open opportunities before us tomorrow.”
