French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve has condemned recent anti-Muslim vandalism in Corsica. The incident occurred in a Muslim prayer room last week, after two firefighters were ambushed in a housing project.

"There is no place in Corsica for violence or racism," said Cazeneuve. "Our country, in the face of ... terrorism and the divisions it creates, has a great need for respect."

The Mediterranean island has seen increasing tensions between Christians and Muslims recently.
