Rabbi Yuval Cherlow responded on Tuesday to the Supreme Court’s decision to sentence former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to 18 months in prison, suggesting that President Rivlin reject any form of leniency or pardon directed at Olmert.

“It is up to the President to announce ahead of time, as in other unusual cases, that a request for a pardon made by a Prime Minister convicted of bribery be rejected. Otherwise, all trust will be lost.”
