The Knesset Assembly has given its approval to the preliminary reading of an amendment to the law on the rights of sick people.
The bill, which was submitted by MK Aliza Lavie (Yesh Atid), would ensure that newborns undergoing surgery would be accompanied by a parent, or another person of the parents' choosing.
The Ministerial Committee for Legislation has expressed its opposition to the bill, but it still passed the first stage in the Assembly.
