A plane filled with Syrian refugees bound for Canada has taken off from Jordan. This is the first such flight to take refugees from Jordan to Canada.
Canada is planning on taking on at least 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of February. The program involves close coordination with both Jordan and Turkey.
