The European Union is planning on unveiling its plans for a new security system to handle the refugee crisis. The new force, including both border guards and coast guards, will be made up of 1,000 people.
AFP reports that the plan will give the EU power to intervene in immigration issues even against the will of the host nation. A draft reads: "In urgent situations, the Agency must be able to step in to ensure that action is taken on the ground even where there is no request for assistance from the Member State concerned or where that Member State considers that there is no need for additional intervention."
Many of the group's 28 countries are opposed to this extended reach, and worry about losing their sovereignty.
