Jerusalem has reactivated the public transportation security unit. The unit was created during the first intifada and shut down in 2007.
The unit was initially comprised of dozens of security guards and seven vehicles.
Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz (Likud) spoke at a ceremony today (Sunday) commemorating the unit's reopening. "The true goal of security is prevention, and this could be its biggest achievement. The preparedness and correct actions can prevent or mitigate the threat, and prevent it all together," he said.
