Authorities in Eilat have seized about 300 bottles of high-end alcohol and commercial quantities of food from a Petah Tikvah resident who had not paid tax on the products.

Customs officials have been cracking down on smugglers in Eilat, yet were still shocked to see the quantity that the current suspect was transporting. The bottles were primarily whiskey and vodka, while the food included canned goods, cereals, and more.

The items' total value is estimated at about 30,000 shekels ($7,700 US), and would carry a tax charge of about 5,100 shekels ($1,300 US).

At first, the suspect claimed that the the goods were for his son's bar mitzvah, then later admitted admitted: "I made a mistake."
