Authorities in northwest Turkey detained on Monday 1,300 migrants attempting to reach Greece, Turkey's state-run Anadolu news agency reported.
Some 750 migrants were arrested during an early morning police raid in the town of Ayvacik, in Canakkale province - a major transit point into the Greek Island of Lesbos. Another 550 migrants were arrested later in the day hiding in olive groves.
