An activist on behalf of the rights of the Kurdish people was shot dead during an exchange of fire between police officers and gunmen in southeastern Turkey.
The victim was the head of a law office in Turkey. Reports indicate that he accidentally found himself in the area and was shot in the head. He later succumbed to his wounds at a nearby hospital.
