An official from the Russian airline Metrojet says the plane that crashed in Sinai over the weekend could not have done so because of a technical fault.
Alexander Smirnov, Metrojet's deputy general director, told reporters that the reason for the crash "could only have been a mechanical impact on the plane," lending credence to ISIS's claim of shooting it down.
Russian investigators have not yet suggested why the plane crashed, while Egypt insists that its investigation will take several months to complete.
