The Knesset has rejected a bill calling to extend the service of soldiers enrolled in the hesder program. Twenty-seven MKs voted in favor and 40 against.
Hesder is a program that combines army service and studying in a yeshiva, spending two years in each side. The bill's author, MK Omer Bar-Lev (Zionist Union) claims that the conditions for those who take part in the program are unfairly light compared to regular soldiers.
