The US-led coalition against ISIS has not carried out any airstrikes in Syria over the past three days. By contrast, Russia claims that it has struck 94 targets in the past day alone.

US officials says that their quiet has no connection with Russia's actions but instead is due to their greater care in choosing targets. "Air strikes ebb and flow... We look at intelligence to find out where we have actionable targets, where we have targets that we can hit without causing civilian damage," said a spokesperson for the Pentagon.
