The English historian David Cesarani has passed away at the age of 58.

Cesarani was a professor at Royal Holloway, University of London, who specialized in Jewish and Holocaust history. He wrote many significant books, including After Eichmann: Collective Memory and the Holocaust Since 1961, The Final Solution: Origins and Implementation, and Justice Delayed: How Britain Became a Refuge for Nazi War Criminals.

He was knighted in 2005 for his "services to Holocaust Education and advising the government with regard to the establishment of Holocaust Memorial Day.”
