Authorities in Charleston, North Carolina, have been ordered to pay $6.5 million in damages to the family of Walter Scott, a black man who was shot and killed by a police officer last April.
At the time of the incident Scott was being stopped on the suspicion that a light on his motorcycle was out, and he was unarmed.
