Saeb Erekat, the head of the Palestinian Authority's negotiating team, has commented on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech at the United Nations General Assembly, saying that "Netanyahu forgot to mention that Israel only exists because of the UN."
Erekat also dismissed Netanyahu's call for a return to negoations: "Members of Netanyahu's camp regularly sabotaged every serious attempt at a peace process. The Palestinians have never demanded conditions for peace. The Palestinians demanded that Israel follow its obligations towards the Palestinians, but it has not yet done so."
Before agreeing to join the last round of negotiations, which began two years ago, the Palestinians insisted that Israel release over a hundred prisoners.
