Russian President Vladimir Putin claims that the only way to bring an end to the Syrian civil war is to support its dictator Bashar al-Assad.
"There is no other way except to strengthen the current effective government and to support it in the war on terror," said President Putin.
International leaders have expressed concern over the Syrian military's use of Russian weapons to allegedly kill civilians.
