Thousands of visitors and worshippers are expected to arrive in Jerusalem today (Monday) for the last night of Slichot before Yom Kippur. In order to accommodate them, light rail officials have announced that they will extend the trains' operating hours.

The move comes as the result of a request by Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Dov Kalmanovich. He noted that many organized Slichot groups will start at 12:30 am.

The light rail system will run until 2:00 am.
