Niloufar Ardalan, the captain of the Iranian women's soccer team, will be unable to participate in the Asian Cup competition because her husband has not given permission for her to leave the country.
Iranian news reports that 30-year-old Ardalan's husband has taken her passport due to a domestic disagreement.
According to Iranian law, married women are only allowed to travel abroad if their husbands grant their permission. Yesterday (Tuesday), the midfielder wrote a post on Instagram calling for the law to be changed.
