Qatar has deployed about a thousand ground troops to Yemen, al-Jazeera reports. This is the first time that Qatari forces have set foot in Yemen as part of the Saudi-led offensive against the Houthi jihadist group.
According to military sources, the Qatari forces intend to attack Houthi strongholds in the capital city Sanaa.
The Qatari airforce have been carrying out strikes in Yemen.
