After meeting with Education Minister Naftali Bennett on Monday, Teachers' Association chairman Erez Raz backed down from the threat of a nationwide elementary school strike on the first day of school on Tuesday.
Parents groups, some with the backing of regional councils, have, however, announced their intention to continue with the strike in protest of ongoing, unresolved issues in the education system.
