The Hungarian government has asked Germany to explain the laws regarding illegal migrants traveling within the European Union.

A government spokesperson for Budapest said that the Schengen rules require migrants to have valid travel documents and a visa for their destination. As the majority of asylum seekers do not have these two items, they are often left stranded at Hungarian train stations.

"In order to end the untransparent and adverse conditions we ask Germany to clarify the legal situation," the spokesperson to Hungarian news agency MTI.
