The Cabinet today (Monday) approved the appointment of Ofir Akunis (Likud) to be the new Science, Technology, and Space Minister. He will replace Danny Danon (Likud), who will be the new ambassador to the United Nations.
In addition, the Cabinet appointed Yaakov Litzman (UTJ) as Health Minister. Litzman has already been serving as the minister, but with the title of Deputy Minister. A recent Supreme Court ruling declared that such a practice is not permitted.
The appointments appointment will only be finalized after the Knesset votes to approve as well.
