The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by former MK Said Nafa (Balad), and ruled that he must serve the year in prison that he received as a sentence.

Nafa was convicted of illegally traveling to an enemy country, assisting others to illegally travel to an enemy country, and having contact with foreign agents.

Nafa served in the Knesset from 2007 until 2013. In 2007 he traveled to Syria and allegedly met with representatives from Hezbollah and the People Front for the Liberation of Palestine. In 2012 he returned to Syria as an honored guest of dictator Bashar al-Assad.
