Education Minister Naftali Bennett (Jewish Home) took part in a conference on education in Holon this evening (Wednesday). During the event, he commented on the opening of the new school year, which will occur next Tuesday.
Bennett told Channel 2 that, although he sends his children to a religious school because he wants them to continue in a religious Zionist path, he does not discount mixed religious and secular studies. He also emphasized that there is already such a program in the education system.
In addition, he encouraged Arab students to learn Hebrew in order to have greater success in the job market. The minister added, however, that the various mixed programs are not intended to force students to fit into any moulds. "For the sake of tolerance we cannot sweep away our identity. Everyone has their own identity."
