Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan formally called on Monday night for new parliamentary elections to be held on November 1.
The announcement comes the day after the deadline for establishing a new government passed.
Erdogan's ruling AKP party won the majority in June 7 elections, but did not garner enough seats to form a coalition without partners.
