Conflicting protests are currently going on in front of the Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon. The crux of both protests is Muhammad Allan, an arrested member of Islamic Jihad who was hospitalized after he lost conscious due to an extended hunger strike.
Both groups of protesters are opposed to doctors force feeding Allan. One side, primarily Arabs, are calling for Allan's release from administrative detention. The other, mostly made up of Jews, wants authorities to allow Allan to die.
A large police force is currently at the site to maintain order.
