Iran was behind an attempt to smuggle large quantities of weapons into Kuwait last week, according to two Kuwaiti newspapers.
On Thursday Kuwait announced that it had uncovered 19,000 kilograms of weapons and ammunition and arrested three people. At the time it was believed that the weapons had come from Iraq and were destined for a Hezbollah team.
Today both But al-Rai and al-Qabas newspapers reported that the armaments were delivered by Iran via the sea. The papers quoted unnamed sources who said that their information came from the arrested men's confessions.
