A New York man, originally from Albania, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for trying to support terrorists.
Thirty-one-year-old Agron Hasbajrami agreed to a plea bargain in which he admitted to sending over $1,000 to terrorists in Pakistan and Afghanistan. He also e-mailed with someone in Pakistan who allegedly belonged to a group that has murdered US soldiers.
This is Hasbajrami's second conviction. He was first arrested in 2011 at JFK International Airport, after buying a one-way ticket to Turkey. He also pleaded guilty in 2012 and received 15 years in prison for trying to travel to Pakistan in order to join a terrorist group.
