The conflicting sides in Syria have agreed to a 48-hour ceasefire, following a month-long negotiation process between Turkey and Iran.

The ceasefire will halt the fighting between the Syrian army, with support from Hezbollah, and rebel groups in the town of Zabadani and two Shi'ite villages, all three of which are located in western Syria.

Turkey has been supporting the rebels, while Iran backs dictator Bashar al-Assad.
