(IsraelNN.com) American Jewish activists aligned with the teachings of the late Rabbi Meir Kahane reject official reports that JDL leader Irv Rubin committed suicide in his California jail cell. Following is a statement released today by the "Voice of Judea", a publication representing the Kahane Movement in the USA.
"The Kahane Movement and Jews in Israel and around the world send their condolences to the family of Irv Rubin and to the members of the Jewish Defense League. Irv, died mysteriously in a Californian jail while awaiting trial, earlier today.
"Rubin, 57 was awaiting trial for an alleged conspiracy plot to bomb a mosque in California, after Sept. 11.
"The prosecution did not hide the fact that it was none other than a
federal agent who planted the bomb on another JDL member, prior to the FBI search that lead to the arrestof Irv Rubin. Nothing incriminating was found in Irv Rubin's home, and Rubin had no earlier convictions. However, Irv was still not released on bail.
"The Kahane Movement is calling upon the Israeli government to demand a commission of inquiry from the American authorities to investigate the false charges brought against Rubin and to investigate the mysterious death of Rubin.
"We reject the reports that Irv Rubin took his own life. In view of the fact that his attorney was scheduled to bring motions that could have lead to his release today, it is outrageous to assume Irv would have committed suicide before the long awaited court appearance.
"The entire Irv Rubin case and death should serve as a wake-up-call to Israel and all American Jews just how far America is prepared to go to show even-handedness and to preserve the Arab Coalition. Everybody knows that Irv Rubin was arrested so that America could show that they are not exclusively targeting radical Islamics. Jewish terrorists had to be found, created or fabricated."
