The former mayor of Sderot, Eli Moyal, was removed from the ranks of the Likud after meeting with the party's main opponents, Zionist Camp leaders, Yitzhak Herzog and Tzipi Livni.
Moyal and other veteran Likud activists met Tuesday night with Herzog and Livni, claiming they were meeting with other party leaders as a result of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's "unreasonableness."
In response, Moyal was summoned by the Director of the Likud for a hearing, whereupon he was dismissed and expelled from the party.
