Greece: Athens Fails to Elect President After Second Round of Voting

After a second round of voting, the Greek parliament still has not succeeded in electing a president.

The government’s candidate, Stavros Dimas, received 168 votes in today’s (Tuesday) elections, which still fell short of the 200 required votes.

Should the final round of voting on December 29 fail as well, the parliament will be dissolved and a general election will be called for the following month.
