Hiddush, a Jewish NGO which represents a liberal point of view, has demanded from the Attorney General that he open an investigation of Rabbi Mordechai Blau for suspicion of using threats and extortion against hareidi women to intimidate them and prevent them from running for office.
Hiddush CEO Uri Regev, a Reform Rabbi formerly involved in official Reform movement leadership said, "It is possible that this is the worst instance of bullying and intimidation we may have seen in the last few decades."
Regev's comments followed this morning's (Monday) report in the media wherein Rabbi Blau, an 'askan' (community leader) for Degel Hatorah, said that hareidi women who would enter the public domain in politics were not truly hareidi, and that their children should be removed from hareidi educational institutions.
