At the opening of today's (Sunday) government cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu addressed the wave of violence against Jews that had been engulfing Jerusalem, especially in the eastern part of the capital.

"In recent days, including today, we have deployed 1,000 additional Border Police, as well as members of other special units.  We cannot permit that the norm in the city will be rock throwing, and Molotov cocktails and general rioting," the Prime Minister stated.

"And this is no coincidence," Netanyahu continued, "there are various radical Islamist forces at work here who are trying to burn down Israel's capital, and we exert, relentlessly, and with responsibility, every means at our command to make sure they do not succeed in these effort. And in this, I expect the full support of the Israeli public in our efforts to maintain Israel's capital."
