Rabbi Yehuda Deri, the chief rabbi of Be’er Sheva and the brother of Shas chairman MK Aryeh Deri, on Tuesday evening submitted his candidacy for the position of Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem.
The number of applicants now stands at 18, eight for the Ashkenazi Rabbi and ten for the Sephardic Rabbi.
