Steven Altschuler, CEO of Philadelphia’s Children’s Hospital, together with Drexel University President John Fry, and Hebrew University of Jerusalem President Menahem Ben-Sasson today (Monday) signed a research agreement as part of Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter’s trade mission to Israel. The partnership will focus on pediatric translation research, developing a collaborative platform to advance pediatric medicine from the laboratory to the patient’s bedside.
The signing ceremony, hosted by HUJ, was attended by Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat together with Philadelphia Mayor Nutter. Professor Ben-Sasson noted that the collaboration between the three institutions would create an inspiring environment for translating basic science into practical applications.
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem is thought to be among the top academic and research institutions worldwide, and is a leader in biotechnology patent filings. HUJ’s Faculty of Medicine and School of Pharmacy are leaders in research in drug science and delivery. The new Center will be unique in its approach and its focus on new delivery systems for the younger patient.
