Chairman Mordechai Eisenberg of the Movement for Fairness in Government, who serves on the Committee for Appointing Rabbinical Judges, filed a petition with the Supreme Court, demanding that the recent elections for the Chief Rabbinate Council. Eisenberg claimed that all the members of the committee received an official letter before the voting which told them to vote for the ten incumbents, in accordance with a political deal between the three religious parties, with the agreement of the the chief rabbis. Eisenberg said the names of the other candidates were not presented.

The Rabbinate responded by saying the chief rabbis were not involved in any political deal and are not responsible for things that were said in their name without their knowledge.
