Israel Seeks Cyprus's Help at EU

Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein was in Cyprus, Monday morning, to sign a protocol of cooperation between the friendship associations of the two countries. He agreed with President Yannakis Omirou of the Cyprus House of Representatives on exchanging information and delegations in the fields of culture, economics and natural resources, among other areas.

Noting Cyprus's friendly relations with Israel and its status as the closest member of the European Union, Edelstein asked his counterpart to act against the EU's recent decision not to include areas beyond the 1949 Armistice Line in agreements with Israel. Omirou said that Israel could view Cyprus as its representative in the EU and the European Parliament.
