Jewish Cemetery in Romania Vandalized

Jews who arrived at the cemetery of Timisoara in western Romania this week were shocked to discover that the cemetery had been vandalized.

The vandals sprayed anti-Semitic graffiti which included swastikas and which read "Death to the Jews". The members of the local Jewish community called the police, who said they would make serious efforts to capture the perpetrators. According to Romanian law, spraying anti-Semitic graffiti is a criminal offense for which the maximum penalty is three years imprisonment.
